Flush and semi-flush ceiling lights are designed for lower ceilings where a hanging fixture would feel cramped, while chandeliers need more vertical clearance. Check the listed drop height against your ceiling, allowing at least 210cm of clearance beneath the fixture.

A simple guide: add your room's length and width in feet, and that number in inches is a good diameter for the fixture. For dining rooms, the fixture should be roughly half to two-thirds the width of the table it hangs over.

Each listing states the number and type of bulbs required and whether they're supplied. Matching all bulbs to the same warm color temperature gives the most cohesive, flattering light.

Dimmability depends on using dimmable bulbs together with a compatible dimmer switch. Most LED-dimmable bulbs work well, but pairing the right bulb and dimmer avoids flicker.

Turn off the power, then dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth; for glass or crystal, a slightly damp microfiber cloth restores sparkle - dry each piece to avoid spots. A clean a couple of times a year keeps the fixture bright.
